Vogue Festival

To end my perfect two week holiday I attended the Vogue Festival which is in its third run. I missed the second but the first was really lovely. It seems to be getting better with each passing year. Harrods
hosted this year's and they did a wonderful job. The line up was amazing from models like Naomi Campbell, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn to fashion designers like Valentino Garavani, Tory Burch to musicians like Lily Allen to fashion editors and directors and so much more. See the full line up here.

I went for two of the talks; My fashion life with Tory Burch, Margiela Missoni and Manolo Blahnik and Valentino: King of Glamour. I loved loved it, there was laughter, food, fashion and fabulousity (don't judge my diction). Perhaps my most favourite (and probably everyone's) activity was the Harrods Live Runway where everyone got to live out their supermodel fantasies and we got pictures at the end which we could share on instagram. I mean what's a good moment if it doesn't go on instagram these days?

New York, New York

Oh well this is the last New York post that I'll be putting up. And like the previous post it's a bunch of random pictures mostly taken from Times Square because it's as New york as New York can get. It's probably where all worlds collide, every personality, every dream, every fate.
P.s I might love minions but I was not particularly happy to see this very ones -_-

Last Night in New York

New York, New York, I left my heart in New York. I can't believe it's time to pack up back to London and back to school work. But I am well rested and I've had a fabulous stay in NYC. Pictures I took on the last night. I still have random pictures I took which I would put up in another post.
These pictures are as random as it can get lol. Till the next holiday...

The Secret Garden Show

To honour the beginning of Spring, Macy's is having a secret garden show that runs from Sunday, March 23- Sunday, April 6. The store in New York was lavishly decorated with flowers everywhere and in the window's displays. There are also going to be events going on in store for people to enjoy. Took a couple of pictures before I got carried away with shopping

A Madison Affair

New York isn't a place to relax, it's way too fast for that, it's the place where you go on retail therapy. The place where you let you sorrows get drowned by the swipe of your shiny black card and the new shoes and bags you get to take home with you. Your new babies. That's what New York is to me, a place to live out my luxurious fantasies starting with Madison Square and Fifth Avenue.

In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, I like my money right where I can see it... hanging in my closet. Where do you like yours?

Hello Brooklyn

These are random pictures from Brooklyn. I didn't make it all the way to the bridge, I'm lazy like that, I got close though and took a couple of pictures but that's about it. I would have told someone to meet me halfway across the bridge, most likely my sister but let's leave such poetic acts to the SATC cast shall we?

The Perfect View

It's cliche but inescapable. It isn't a complete NYC visit if you don't go to the Empire State Building for the perfect view you get over the city. It's a wonderful ending to a date cause it is actually romantic being up there with someone you love. Piece of advice DO NOT GO WHEN IT IS COLD. Cause the higher you go, the colder it becomes. I was FREEZING when I took this pictures so some might be pretty rubbish and not as many as you would love but you have to take it as it is.

May This Be Love

It was a beautiful wedding away from the city. Set in the palace in Somerset, it couldn't have been more beautiful. And the weather seemed to agree with their union as the sun was out to bless their wedding.

The bride marched into an orchestra rendition of 'A thousand years' by Christina Perri. And unlike typical Nigerian weddings, the ceremony lasted no more than 30 minutes. Their vows had a few people in tears especially the bride. Occasional laughs here and there and a congregational 'awwww' most of the time.

After the pictures came the reception. A little cocktail was set in a room for guests to indulge in while families and well wishers took pictures outside. The reception hall was a beautiful sight lighted by only candles burning in water. A pink fluorescent mood and flower petals on each table. There were chandeliers hanging from the roof top. The couples first dance was to 'May this be love' by Christine Ben-Ameh, a BCA alumni where we all went to high school. A good choice for a first dance I must say. And then came the partying all night long.

I wish both of them many more years filled with love, patience, blessings and growth. And now I would let the pictures speak for themselves. Ps I didn't take much pictures once the dancing started, cause I went to get my groove on. A room was dedicated to desserts only, my sister who is a sweet tooth almost went crazy when she walked in the room. It was heaven for her lol

The Pier View

Yesterday I was in Atlantic City, we went to celebrate with the bride and groom to be and have fun also. We took a road trip that was filled with laughter, food and near death experiences (ok maybe I'm exaggerating but sudden brakes and all, you get my drift). On the way back I took a couple of pictures from the Pier at New Jersey of the view of New York. Quite amateurish but I hope you appreciate them.

Sebastian for Dinner

I know what you're thinking, I only came to New York to eat. While I'm not denying that I'm a foodie, I just haven't gone shopping properly. Although I went to Macy's today. There's a new shoe in my collection, whoooopie. Don't judge me, I'm invoking my woman's right to shoes. Anyhoo, Yvonne, Mirna and I went out for an early dinner at Red Lobster and here are some of the pictures I took.

Mirna is getting pretty restless with my taking pictures of the food before they get a chance to dig in, what can I say? I'm a blogger, it's my job.

P.s Hey Sebastian, I'm sorry I had to eat you for dinner

Sunday Brunch at Oliver's Astoria

Today I had brunch with my sister, Yvonne, Yinka and later on Dunni joined us. This was after church. Had mimosas with breakfast, safe to say Carrie and the girls would be proud of us. I had the Hangover Destroyer which had Scrambled Eggs, Cinnamon French Toast, Bacon, Breakfast Sausage and Home Fries. Yummmy I must say and worked like a charm, if you had a hangover that is. Don't ask me what I did the night before.

P.s The weather here is crazy, I brought Britain here with me LOL. It was warm yesterday and freezing today. Tomorrow I hit the shops, whoooopeeee

Empire State of Mind

Hello beautiful readers of mine,
I decided to take a breather away from reality and take a vacation in New York. Got in yesterday after a loong flight. Plus my flight was delayed for up to two hours but I'm a faithful BA customer despite their bull so I can't complain.

Anyways my next blog posts would be about New York, my expedition or just pictures that I take. Hope you all enjoy it. Toodles

Some things never seem to work

I met a boy once and he would always say "one day you will write about me" and I would always laugh in reply. I never thought that 'one day' would be this soon and I'm laughing still. Not cause I find it funny but cause it's a bitter laugh.

I can barely say I know him cause he's a stranger now. He was a stranger when we met and he's a stranger now. The chemistry between us went from a boom to a bust. We went from talking all the time to barely talking. And the more the silence filled the space between us, the more evident it became that I was an option and not a priority.

I would occasionally find myself wondering what the hell I was doing, letting someone treat me as an option when I knew damn well what I was worth. So I did it. I decided to strap on my metaphorical heels and walk the hell out. Do I look back in regret? Hell no, some people are only there in your life to teach you a lesson and once they've played their role, the curtain closes on them. So I'm happy I met him. We would have been good friends but I don't believe in woulda, coulda, shoulda.

Some things never seen to fxcking work. Thanks Solange for summing that up for me ✌️

Happy Women's Day

Happy International Women's Day to all you beautiful women out there. Continue to stay beautiful and phenomenal. I hope you all have a good day. Mine started out great. Woke up to my flatmate, Ayman making breakfast for us girls. It was so unexpected and wonderful.

We had it all, waffles, pancakes, omelette, toasts, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruits and yoghurt. Hahahaha. It was great. Took a couple of pictures to share out with you. I hope someone shows you appreciation today, doesn't even have to be a man, we women should appreciate ourselves. A kind word or gesture is enough to make someone's day.

Take it Easy

These past days I've found myself under a lot of pressure, not from anyone but myself. I've been asking myself what I want to do with my life, what career path I want to take, what to do after my MA programme, etc. Soo many question floating in my head I almost ran myself mad. And I was the one who got myself there cause no one told me to make a decision now.

I was going over my vision book and talking to my really good friend about my fears for the future. Told her how worried I was that some of our/my friends seem to have it all figured out and I just felt lost. Luckily she felt the same way and she told me to do what I was passionate about. And then I told her I couldn't figure out what I was passionate about, so she told me to do what I like/love the most and keep doing it and I'll end up exactly where I needed to be. That calmed me down but for the time being. Because three hours later I found a worried me pawning over my Vision book and thinking too much about the future. As I wrote down goals I had for myself under different sections, I found that the career section was still blank. I had abstract goals but nothing like "I want to be CEO of So and So" etc. What I did however, was write down the three options I've been toying around with in my head about the career paths I wanted.

Lupita Nyong'o on Black Beauty

Here's her inspiring speech on black beauty and this applies to everyone regardless of your skin tone. Beauty isn't just about how you look on the outside.

I want to take this opportunity to talk about beauty. Black beauty. Dark beauty. I received a letter from a girl and I’d like to share just a small part of it with you: “Dear Lupita,” it reads, “I think you’re really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.”My heart bled a little when I read those words. I could never have guessed that my first job out of school would be so powerful in and of itself and that it would propel me to be such an image of hope in the same way that the women of The Color Purple were to me.

Black is Beautiful

Randomly scrolling through my twitter one day and procrastinating, I saw several tweets from boys asking what the huge deal about Lupita Nyong'o is. I couldn't blame them considering how she blew up in such a short time. Now I haven't seen the movie yet but at first I thought to myself, well maybe she did a really good job in it. But the more she took over my social media, the more I realised that the huge deal was less about her performance and more about what she stands for, being dark as night and being beautiful.

Elie Saab 2014 Couture

This man is the king of dresses. I loved every dress I saw in this collection, a beautiful mixture of soft pastels from blush pink to hydrangea blue, grecian and ballroom silhouettes, florals and sparkles! Lots of sparkles. I couldn't contain my jealousy watching all those models walking down the catwalk in his dresses. And the last one?! A masterpiece. Time to start saving, I need me an Elie Saab dress.

What is True Love?

I found this really adorable video of kids giving their opinions of true love. It's so innocent and pure, I wonder if sometimes we need to go back to that stage in dealing with love in our everyday lives, regardless of what age we are.

Happy Sunday and have a beautiful week xoxo
